In keeping with the global mission of the Athenaeum, the Faculty of Bioethics seeks to develop and consolidate a line of thought that is in line with the “culture of life” (cf. Evangelium Vitae), by advocating full respect for every human being from conception to natural death, and fostering a dialogue among cultures and religions.
The specific goals of the Faculty are as follows: conducting interdisciplinary research on bioethical themes (in biological, medical, legal, socio-political, environmental, and other fields), especially those related to human life; teaching bioethics at academic level, in full accordance with the teachings of the Church, so as to prepare experts in this discipline, especially among health care workers, pastoral agents, educators, communicators, jurists, and politicians; fostering a wide dissemination of the culture of life and of personalist bioethics, especially through publications, conferences, meetings and social media communications. The Faculty of Bioethics offers three degree courses (Baccalaureate, Licentiate, and Doctorate) and one Specialist Diploma Course in Bioethics. The Faculty also organises an international advanced specialist course in the summer period.
