Specialist Course in Philosophy of Knowledge and of Science

Specialist Course in Philosophy of Knowledge and of Science

Coordinator: Fr. Rafael Pascual, LC.

The issues arising from natural sciences and from the complexity of knowledge affect philosophy as a whole and the ways in which we give meaning to our lives. Moreover, since the beginning of the modern age, contemporary philosophy has had a tendency to deal, above all, with the issue of knowledge and science. In this area, the debate revolves around the compatibility between science and faith, history and nature, limitedness of knowledge, and the claim to know absolute truths about the foundations of reality. Therefore, the curriculum of this specialist course covers subject areas through which students can gain a greater, systematic, and historical understanding of the above issues. In particular, the optional Licentiate courses attended and the ECTS credits accrued by students therefrom can be counted towards their requirements for attending the Professional Master Course in Science and Faith.
