Course curriculum

The course curriculum for this branch of study provides specialist education for formators of religious life or seminaries.

The twelve core courses are distributed over two years, with three courses per semester; these courses, together with the second-year on-the-job training, are held on Saturdays (nine meetings per semester):

  • Psychological dynamics in consecrated life
  • Canonical regulations on education (suitability, internal forum, discernment)
  • Spiritual direction
  • Leadership and authority
  • Psychological and psychiatric issues in education
  • Psychological and spiritual profiles for apostolate
  • Psychology of interpersonal conflicts in communities and groups
  • Psychology of vocational processes 1
  • Psychology of vocational processes 2
  • History of consecrated life
  • Psycho-pedagogical tools for formators
  • Theology and anthropology of consecrated chastity
  • On-the-job training (second year)

Courses common to all branches of study are held on Thursday and Friday afternoon and cover the following disciplines:

 

  • Methodology of scientific research
  • Selected topics of systematic philosophy
  • Selected topics of history of the Church
  • Selected topics of moral theology
  • Selected topics of bioethics
  • Selected topics of dogmatic theology
  • Selected topics of spiritual theology

Diploma Courses

In addition to graduate courses, ISSR offers three specialist diploma courses and one specialist course. These courses, each of which lasts four semesters, are intended to improve the skills of formators, spiritual directors, and educators.
