The Theology Faculty Webinar “The Encyclical Dilexit nos on Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Light of the Theology of Saints” will be held on May 21st, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

The event will be held in Italian but with simultaneous translation into English and Spanish and will feature the participation of five speakers, each of whom will explore the thought of a Saint, following this schedule:

  1. Prof. P. Joseph Spence, Adjunct Professor of Theology who will speak about Saint Bonaventure;
  2. Prof.ssa Angela Tagliafico, Extraordinary Professor of Theology, who will speak about Saint Ignatius of Loyola;
  3. Prof. Emilio Martinez Albesa, Extraordinary Professor of Theology, who will speak about Saint John of the Cross;
  4. Prof. P. Pedro Barrajón, Ordinary Professor of Theology, who will speak about Saint Francis de Sales;
  5. Prof. P. François-Marie Léthel, Theologian of Saints and Holiness, who will speak about Saint Thérèse of Lisieux.

We are pleased to confirm the participation of Prof. P. François-Marie Léthel: appointed consultor of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints by Pope John Paul II in 2004, he was also appointed prelate secretary of the Pontifical Academy of Theology by Pope Benedict XVI in 2008. In 2011, Father Léthel was the preacher of the spiritual exercises for the Holy Father Benedict XVI and the Roman Curia, focusing on the theme of holiness.

We invite you to participate in this webinar, of great educational value, as Professor Tagliafico reminds us:

“Through the webinar “The Encyclical Dilexit nos on Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Light of the Theology of Saints,” the Licentiate in Spiritual Theology of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum aims to recall the importance of devotion to the Heart of Christ, which filled the spiritual life of many masters, preachers, and founders of Catholic religious congregations who widely spread it to every corner of the earth. This devotion, as recalled by Pope Francis’ encyclical, characterizes the spiritual journey of many Saints, and in each one, it takes on new aspects, which the webinar will show through the example of five of them: Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, Ignatius of Loyola, John of the Cross, Francis de Sales, and Thérèse of Lisieux. Each Saint reflects and embodies, in a given historical moment, an aspect of the Gospel, lived entirely in the service of the Love of the Heart of Jesus. This also constitutes a reminder for all of us to live our vocation to holiness in the present day of the Church, and in particular in this Jubilee Year, animated above all by the virtue of Hope, which is born of Love and is founded on the Love that flows from the Heart of Christ.”
