“Five Transversal Orientations of Pope Francis for Catholic Universities” – Article by Rector Fr. José Enrique Oyarzún, LC

Pope Francis’ Pontificate has launched a strong appeal to renew the structures of the Church, taking into account the Gospel and current cultural challenges. In this fundamental process, Catholic universities, especially ecclesiastical ones, play a strategic role: they are not limited to safeguarding knowledge, but are called to be vibrant places of integral formation, of vital dialogue between faith and reason, and of the dissemination of the Gospel message within the culture. Through key documents (Evangelii Gaudium, Veritatis Gaudium), the impetus for the Global Compact on Education, and numerous interventions, Pope Francis has offered a clear and stimulating vision for higher education.

In the article, the Rector of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, Fr. José Enrique Oyarzún, LC., proposes five major orientations that emerge from the magisterium of Pope Francis, understood as an open invitation to discernment and a hopeful renewal for academic institutions.

To explore these themes further, we invite you to read the article in its entirety.
