Pope Francis: the message from Rector Fr. José Enrique Oyarzún
The Rector and the Community of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, upon learning with profound emotion the news of the death of the Holy Father Francis, unite in the prayer of the universal Church, entrusting his soul to the mercy of the Father.
In this moment of recollection, the Athenaeum expresses gratitude for the legacy that Pope Francis leaves to the Church and the world: a tireless proclamation of God’s mercy, lived and proposed as the key to the Gospel; a constant appeal to an outgoing, missionary Church, capable of reaching the geographical and existential peripheries; a decisive invitation to form hearts and minds oriented towards service, justice, and the care of our common home.
His witness, both simple and profound, has left a mark on the ecclesial journey and will continue to inspire the educational and academic service of the Athenaeum, called to form evangelizers of thought and credible witnesses of the Gospel in today’s world. With gratitude, the academic Community renews its commitment to safeguard and make fruitful the magisterium of Pope Francis, in fidelity to the Gospel and in communion with the Church.
