The Doctorate is the highest qualification that can be achieved in the university curriculum and prepares for teaching and research at the highest academic level.
An indispensable requirement to begin the journey towards the Doctorate in Theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum is to have successfully completed a Licentiate with a minimum grade of 8.6/10 and to be highly motivated to an intense work of study that will continue in the future.
The 3rd Cycle Degree in Theology may be awarded to students who:
- have demonstrated a systematic understanding of the field of theological studies pursued;
- have developed the total capacity to use the specialized knowledge acquired to conceive, develop, and carry out original research projects that contribute to the progress of theological expertise;
- have matured the ability to analyze and synthesize in order to produce evaluations of complex issues of theological research determined by a plurality of interrelated factors;
- are capable of systematically transmitting the knowledge acquired through teaching at an academic level;
- have acquired the intellectual competencies and the specific human and interpersonal skills to perform special ecclesiastical functions;
- are able to communicate with academic and professional experts in the field.
