Bioethics: Farrell Family Foundation 2017 scholarships
The Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum thanks the support of Farrell Family Foundation for the Bioethics Summer Courses of Introduction “Current Challenges in Bioethics” and “The Medicalization of Sexuality“. For the second year, the generosity of this prestigious American Foundation has benefitted 22 people, between students, leading scholars and professionals who received scholarships in order to participate in the course and better face the challenges of contemporary society. Eleven women and eleven men – hailing mainly from the United States, Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, Australia and Cameroun – with great qualifications, strong ideals and professional motivation will be able to spread in their communities what they learn from the two-week course.
Since 2001, the Farrell Family Foundation is concretely committed to improve the society, supporting universities, training institutions and cultural organizations with a sense of purpose and with the clear expectation of measurable outcomes.
“One of the more important gifts I could instill in my children,” says founder Dr. Peter Farrell, “is the knowledge that a true sense of satisfaction and fulfillment is achieved through giving back to the community. Giving is a responsibility, and should be done thoughtfully and carefully. We see our gift giving as an investment upon which we look for a return; a return that is a quantifiable improvement in society. In other words, we don’t give based on needs; we invest in expected outcomes. ”
Over the years, the Farrell Family Foundation has funded, among many international institutions: MIT Harvard Division of Sleep Medicine, the Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego and the Cardiovascular Center of the University of California San Diego. We are proud to be a collaborator with them in improving society through this foundation.
