The pro-life effort throughout the world is not simply a movement, cause, philosophy or political platform. It is a spirituality. This course explores why and how that is true. Defending the dignity of human life is an aspect of discipleship, not something added on to it. This course will show how the Gospel of Christ is indivisible from the Gospel of Life, and that this Gospel not only tells us why we defend life, but tells us how. The course will explore the virtues associated with — and necessary for — the defense of life, and will show how human reason and church teaching give a particular urgency and priority to defending the most defenseless, the children in the womb. The pro-life spirituality articulated in this course has been developed over the past 25 years by Fr. Frank Pavone and his team at Priests for Life, and is based in particular on the life, teachings, and example of two saints, Pope John Paul II and Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
