Prof. Sigismondi wins first prize at the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei

Prof. Sigismondi, guest lecturer in the History of Astronomy at the Science and Faith Institute, was awarded the first prize of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei – Fondazione I Lincei per la Scuola – for the best educational project on General Relativity for the year 2023-2024.

The ceremony took place in Rome at the Academy’s headquarters in Palazzo Corsini on 10 December 2024.

The professor gave a lectio magistralis on ā€˜Relativistic Protons from a Solar Flare’, dealing with the transient phenomenon that occurred on 8 June 2024 at 1:49 UT on the Sun’s active region AR3697, whose rhythmic flares he understood.

The lecture was also attended by students from the Liceo Galilei in Pescara, who are attending the Special School on Solar Flares with ICRANet, organised by Prof. Sigismondi for this year.
