Introduzione
The relationship between Christianity and other religions is one of the most significant themes of Christian reflection. It opens up a wide range of questions, spanning from the comparative history of religions to philosophy, and entails theological and pastoral implications.
The official doctrine of the Church has moved from rather rigid positions in its evaluation of other religions to a more positive outlook, thanks above all to the Second Vatican Council, but also to the reflections of theologians of the stature of H. de Lubac, J. Daniélou, and K. Rahner, to mention only the initiators of the two major trends within Catholic theology.
This course aims to provide students with fundamental tools to respond to the questions posed by contemporary multicultural society: are all religions equal? What is the uniqueness of Christianity in relation to other religions? Is the fundamental axiom extra Ecclesiam nulla salus still valid?
