This course offers students an introduction to the study of the Book of Psalms, the Song of Songs, and the so-called Wisdom Books (Proverbs, Job, Qoheleth, Wisdom of Solomon, Sirach). The first segment of the course is dedicated to the Psalms, the prayer book of Israel and the Church, providing students with tools for study and interpretation, with due attention to both the historical and literal sense as well as the canonical and ecclesial context. The second section will be dedicated to the Wisdom Books. In these books, often overlooked in the study of the Bible, students will have the opportunity to discover the richness of Israel’s reflection on the world and the relationship between the divine and the human. Finally, we will address the Song of Songs, the most commented book throughout history and considered by many to be the heart of the canon of the Scriptures for both Israel and the Church, seeking to integrate historical-critical perspectives with the rich spiritual tradition that has emerged from the reading of this book.
