Since ancient times, reflection on the Holy Spirit has been characterized by a delay with respect to Christological-Trinitarian reflections. Only during the fourth century do we have the first significant evidence of works dedicated specifically to the Spirit. Even today, within the regulations of theological institutes, we do not find an adequate and well-deserved space dedicated to pneumatology.
The present optional course proposes, therefore, a deepening of the pneumatological reflection starting from the first two great treatises De Spiritu Sancto respectively by Basil the Great and Ambrose. The texts will be read and commented during the lessons.
