The course aims to analyze the so-called “environmental issue,” particularly its (bio)ethical implications. After briefly touching on some historical and scientific elements of ecology, we will highlight the philosophical elements that define man’s place in nature. In line with the objectives of the Licentiate curriculum, the course will proceed to define and critically analyze the main ethical theories regarding the human-environment relationship, including the Christian view of the environment. In this way, the concepts of human ecology and integral ecology, which are highly significant in the current magisterium, will emerge and be explored in depth.
