The treatise on the passions in I-II of the Sum of Theology has often been taken as a starting point for a comparison between Thomist psychology and contemporary currents of psychology. We will look at practical aspects of the subject of the passions and its relationship to human acts with the help of the great Thomist psychologist Rudolf Allers and compare them with the views of K. Jung, his teacher S. Freud, and the latter’s other disciple, A. Adler.
