The aim of the course is to address Latin texts by medieval authors ranging from classical passages on metaphysics, ethics, and anthropology to texts applied to social life, such as politics and education. This selection of texts offers, first, an advance in the knowledge and personal mastery of Latin; second, it allows students to acquire philosophical vocabulary useful for their own academic career; and third, it allows them to situate these terms within their relationships, implications, and weight in their philosophical context. The list of authors proposed is very varied: Bonaventure, with his “Itinerarium mentis in Deum”; St. Thomas Aquinas with his theological ‘Summa’; Juan Luis Vives, with his “Opera Omnia”; Pico della Mirandola with his “De hominis dignitate”; Tommaso Campanella with his “De Civitate Solis”; St. Augustine mainly with his “Confessions,” among others.
