Introduction
This course will examine social relationships (political, legal, family, economic …) from the point of view of the Christian message. Although the Church has above all the task of sanctifying souls and making them participate in supernatural goods, she is nevertheless solicitous of the needs of the daily life of men, not only as regards survival and living conditions, but also as regards prosperity and civilization in its many aspects and according to differnt ages. In this sense, social doctrine is an applied moral theology and this characteristic presupposes the necessity of “combining” the universally valid knowledge of general morality with the knowledge of the contingent and historical data of the different spheres of social life.
