Genesis 1:1-31 constitutes a main reference text for early Christian reflection and in particular for protological, Trinitarian, anthropological, cosmological and eschatological reflection. This is precisely why it has been particularly used and commented on from the earliest Christian accounts. The seminar aims to accompany students to study the different Christian authors who have commented on the Genesis text, trying to show how the different fundamental theological postulates were formulated and gradually came to constitute Orthodox doctrine. Likewise, seminar work will help develop the methodology proper to the study of the Church Fathers and ancient Christianity more generally.
