The strongest question of our time has to do with the meaning of sexual identity. The gender question has challenged hetero-normativity and highlighted the complexity of elements that come into play in the formation of gender identity. What is the relationship between person, sex and gender? Is one born a woman (or a man) or does one become one? Is it still possible to talk about masculinity and femininity? How should we interpret the crisis of masculinity that we are experiencing? Is it still possible to talk about complementarity? How can feminine and masculine identity be developed within a logic of co-identity, of alliance? Is it possible to make this alliance explicit and translate it into culture? What are the anthropological nodes that make it possible to answer these questions? The Institute proposes an interdisciplinary pathway to illuminate these questions and find ways of answering and communicating them.
