Hope and the Future, 100 Years After the Birth of Joseph Ratzinger

The year 2027 marks the centenary of the birth of Joseph Ratzinger. The Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum is promoting an international conference aimed at re-examining his theological legacy in light of contemporary challenges.

The focus will center on two key works: Eschatology, on the fiftieth anniversary of its publication, and the encyclical Spe Salvi, on its twentieth. Building upon these texts, the conference intends to deepen the connection between Christian hope, eschatological vision, and the understanding of the human person in the current context.

Alongside the academic presentations, direct testimonies will be offered by scholars and collaborators who knew Ratzinger, providing a personal look at his theological method, his spirituality, and his academic style.

The conference is part of a multi-year project of Ratzingerian studies promoted by the Athenaeum, launched in 2025 and held every two years.
