The course aims to analyze the so-called “environmental question,” especially in its (bio)ethical implications. After briefly addressing some historical and scientific aspects of ecology, we will recall the philosophical elements that define the place of the human being within nature. In line with the objectives of the Licentiate curriculum, the course will proceed to define and critically analyze the main ethical theories concerning the human-environment relationship, including the Christian view of the environment. This will lead to the emergence and in-depth exploration of the concepts of human ecology and integral ecology, which are particularly relevant in the current Magisterium.
