In some circles, so-called “nouvelle théologie” would have to do with all the theologians considered “censured” by Pius XII in Humanae Generis in the 1950s. For others, “nouvelle théologie” would be nothing more than a flatus vocis, a reality that never existed. We use this term to refer mainly to the renewal theologians who came to the Second Vatican Council and in particular to two French-speaking schools: the Dominicans of Le Saulchoir and the Jesuits of Lyon Fourvière.
The seminar aims to delve into the theological proposal of the leading exponents of these two schools: Chenu, Congar, Teilhard de Chardin, de Lubac, Daniélou, von Balthasar.
