The course on Integral Ecology offers the opportunity to approach today’s environmental crisis with a critical perspective and an interdisciplinary study methodology, as required by the need for ‘integrality’ that this discipline entails. The so-called ‘ecological consciousness’ is indeed the certainty that everything is interconnected, leading to the recognition and addressing of the needs of relational metaphysics. The course will integrate elements of biology, ecology, history, and philosophy of technoscience, with the richness of contributions from Anthropology, personalist Bioethics, the Social Doctrine of the Church, and the Magisterium. To promote environmental justice and the safeguarding of Creation, it is necessary to address the heart of the problem, because, as Benedict XVI said, where human ecology is respected, the environment also benefits.
