Introduction
Preferring an exquisitely humanistic approach, focused on the centrality of each individual student and their ability to interact in Italian with other members of the class, and following a notional/functional/situational method that presents the language in its inseparable elements (grammatical, communicative, cultural), the course initially provides a systematic assessment of the competencies related to the morphosyntactic content and main communicative functions at levels A1 and A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Subsequently, the program introduces the basic elements of level B1. To guide the student in understanding and using expressions aimed at satisfying concrete needs, describing simple aspects of their background and usual contexts, and understanding high-frequency statements and expressions related to areas of immediate relevance (personal and family information, various commitments), the following grammatical topics are particularly explored: Articles, the gender and number of Nouns and Adjectives, Prepositions, Frequency Adverbs, sentence structure (affirmative, negative, interrogative), the Indicative Mood (with exceptions for the Remote Past and Remote Pluperfect), the Conditional Mood, the Imperative Mood, and the Impersonal Form of Verbs; Direct, Indirect, and Combined Pronouns; the locative Ci and the partitive and demonstrative Ne. At the same time, the following communicative functions are explored: greeting, introducing oneself, inquiring, asking for names and nationalities, expressing sensations and moods, expressing agreement and disagreement, asking for and giving information about others, inviting and responding to invitations, thanking, asking for and granting or denying permission, requesting a favor, expressing tastes and preferences, protesting, giving advice, expressing a wish and a regret, giving orders and commands, urging, reassuring.
