Introduction

Notwithstanding the Heideggerian project of Destruktion of metaphysics and the development of different types of positivism and scientism, there has been a fruitful development in the philosophy of religion in the second half of the 20th century, both in Continental Philosophy and Analytical Philosophy. Through the reading and analysis of texts representative of this development, different philosophical approaches to the religious phenomenon will be explored. An attempt is made to arrive at a skilled judgment of the contributions that can help to provide a synthetic understanding of both the religious dimension of man and the articulation of the problem of God. The authors chosen from Continental Philosophy generally adopt a phenomenological and hermeneutic approach to faith and religiosity (Paul Ricoeur, Jean-Luc Marion, Jacques Derrida, Gianni Vattimo, Emmanuel Falque), while those from Analytical Philosophy focus their epistemological approach mainly on the rationality of the belief in God (John Hick, Alvin Plantinga, Linda Zagzebski).
