Introduction
The course begins with a brief and comprehensive presentation of the Pentateuch, accompanied by a succinct reference to the guiding themes. We will go into the study of the literary, historical and above all thematic specificities of the five books in question, with the support of exegetical approaches to some significant passages, making choices due to the brevity of the course and the vastness of the subject. The study continues with an in-depth study of both deuteronomistic historiography and that of the chronicler. It is thus possible to approach books from a historical and geographical point of view, recalling the main dates, events, and knowledge of peoples and localities of the ancient Near East. It all ends with a look at the post-exile period up to the Maccabaean revolt.
