From scholarship holder to future promoter of Catholic university campus in Brazil

Endel Alves Gomes De Oliveira is a PhD student in Bioethics who received a scholarship to pursue his studies at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum. Not only is he an excellent student but he also has ambitious plans to bring the knowledge learned in his home country, Brazil.

I am very happy to have had the precious opportunity to be part of the lucky students to have been able to study the PhD in Bioethics at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, and to have been a recipient of a scholarship for the first two academic years (preparatory and research path).

Regina Apostolorum’s PhD program in Bioethics offers a high level of education, which is fundamental for me to be able to respond to the challenges of secular society. Bioethics is one of the most urgent issues of our time and addressing this issue is indeed a crucial step in the context of the New Evangelization, in which people are constantly faced with modern bioethical problems and decisions. The dignity of human life and the problems associated with technical progress must be approached with knowledge and a correct perspective. Therefore, faithful Catholic education is a fundamental solution to restoring culture.

This financial support will help me to be ready to contribute to the establishment of a Catholic university campus in Brazil, in collaboration with the entire teaching staff of Regina Apostolorum. This PhD is a unique opportunity for me, right now, to be able to navigate even more carefully the turbulent waters of ethics applied to the biotechnological advances of our time. This requires an educational process based on faith, reason and science, and Queen Apostolorum’s doctoral program in bioethics is designed to meet this need. This scholarship is a tangible and generous way to support and build this educational path, which is not only mine, but is of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to acquire even more academic potential and to be even more available at its service in a variety of bioethical topics.

I confess that it will still be a challenge for me to collect the resources to pay for the third academic year (dissertation course), but I continue with confidence. To ensure the continuity of the work in an orderly manner, I maintain my material and formal commitment, as well as at the beginning of my journey, to fulfill, with all the commitment and interest, the necessary requests.

I offer my sincere greetings to the entire team of our beloved Regina Apostolorum, for the readiness to receive me very well and for their commitment to the successful execution of this doctoral program in Bioethics.
