Introduzione
Every prospective teacher requires quality training in the areas of educational and teaching practice: disciplinary, pedagogical, didactic, methodological, legislative, organizational, and communicative-relational. As a Catholic religion teacher, it is also necessary to cultivate the religious and spiritual dimension, being a witness and example of how to embody, both personally and communally, the Christian values lived and professed. Each teacher is then responsible for his or her ongoing professional development throughout the entire teaching career (Law 107/2015).
The initial period of practice in this profession is particularly important for entering into a complex working environment such as the educational and school setting. It is therefore essential to have an adequate period of Active Training Internship, a time of practical apprenticeship that allows trainees to apply the skills acquired during their studies by engaging directly in classroom work, under the supervision of experienced teachers.
During the Direct Internship, an experienced teacher hosts a trainee in his or her class, allowing the trainee to observe the educational and teaching practices and to be guided through the first practical teaching experiences. In parallel, during the Indirect Internship, university tutors—specialists in school teaching and teacher training—guide the trainees in reflecting on what they have observed and practiced in class, using specific techniques and training tools, and encouraging peer discussion with other trainees.
The ultimate goal is to enable new teachers to confirm their career choice, nurture the motivation underlying it, learn to reflect on their own practice (considering mistakes as opportunities for learning), and make effective use of all available tools and resources in order to enhance their professional competence.
