INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY

Filosofia

Academic Year 2023-2024

Duration

I semestre

Class beginning dates

12/01/2024

Introduction

At the beginning of the three-year bachelor’s program in Philosophy, this introductory course aims to form a trained philosophical mind in future priests and committed lay people. It locates philosophy as a sapiential science among other sciences, precisely identifying its subject and method. It examines its nature, importance, and possible pitfalls as well as the general objectives of the systematic and historical study of philosophy. Philosophical method is treated insofar as it is autonomous as well as in its relationship with the Christian faith; in this sense, St. Thomas Aquinas is presented as an eminent model of Christian philosopher. The methodology of the course seeks to effectively stimulate conscious and personal commitment to philosophizing in academic and non-academic fields.
