The course aims to provide the characterising and structuring elements of spiritual theology, a field of theology that studies, with a deductive-inductive method, the spiritual life in Christian existence, that is, in its dynamics and in its passages and processes, with a view to the transforming growth and fullness that the baptised person achieves. The term spiritual indicates the action of the Holy Spirit, which in the Son reaches the person and unites him to God the Father. The course addresses the question of the epistemological status of spiritual theology, in order to show its specificity, and studies this discipline based on the principles of Revelation and Tradition and on the spiritual experiences of the saints, analysing and describing the Christian’s paschal and ecclesial journey and outlining the laws of his personal and community development.
