This course presupposes the course of Metaphysics I (FILP1013).
We will bring to completion the search for the intrinsic causes of real finite being (ens) started in the first semester, arriving at the real composition of esse and essence. We will then go on to investigate the extrinsic causes of being in order to discover the ultimate transcendental foundation of reality and explain, returning to created being, the workings of finite predicamental causality.
Finally, we will study the properties of being as being (ens qua ens), that is, the transcendentals (res, unum, aliquid, verum, bonum, pulchrum), for each one delving into its notion, its consecution, and its convertibility with being in act; and we will develop the first principles of reality that can be deduced from them.
